Casters: Artificer, Eldritch Knight, Sorcerer, Wizard
Choose up to six creatures in a 30-foot-radius sphere centered on that point. A protective magical force surrounds up to 6 creatures in the radius until the spell ends. The target’s base AC becomes 13 + its Dexterity modifier. The spell ends if the target dons armor or if you dismiss the spell as an action. The spell does not affect creatures already under the mage armor spell.
At Higher Levels. If cast using a spell slot of 5th level or higher, the protection lasts for 8 hours.
This spell was created for situations where there is no time to don armor. It is the same as the mage armor spell with the following exceptions:
- Higher level. I wanted to set this at an accessible level, but not so low that it outshines the mage armor spell.
- Range. Added flexibility. Matches the mass cure wounds spell.
- Duration. I made this to be a much shorter duration than mage armor to make the spell level accessible.
- Scalable. Like mass cure wounds it provides the full effect of a 1st level spell to multiple targets at range.
