An aberration, beast, humanoid, giant, or monstrosity can become a zombie. It keeps its statistics, except as follows:
Type becomes undead, Tags are zombie.
Alignment is usually Neutral Evil, unless you have a justification for it to be other.
Str +0 to +3 (max. 20 unless base creature is above 20)
Dex 6 (adjust AC)
Con +0 to +6 (max. 20 unless base creature is above 20)
Int 3
Wis 6
Cha 5
Senses: Darkvision 60 ft.
Damage Immunity: Poison
Condition Immunity: Poisoned
Language: understands the languages of base creature but can't speak
Undead Fortitude. If damage reduces the zombie to 0 hit points, it must make a Constitution saving throw with a DC of 5 + the damage taken, unless the damage is radiant or from a critical hit. On a success, the zombie drops to 1 hit point instead.
Example
For an example of the use of this template, see the Troll Zombie. Start with the Troll and apply the above instructions. The result is the Troll Zombie.
