Dragon turtles were aquatic creatures that were related to dragons. They were considered among the most dangerous aquatic creatures in existence and were even worshiped by some.
Dragon turtles were distantly related to dragons and had dragon blood. They appeared as huge turtle-like creatures with a long tail and neck with large, taloned flippers. Their heads had a golden crest down the center. [1]
Innate Spellcasting
Monster Manual (5e) p.86 provides rules for adding Innate Spellcasting to young-ancient dragons. Fizban's Treasury of Dragons p.110 indicates this applies to dragon turtles and provides suggested spells.
Dragon Turtle's Lair
[2] Dragon turtles make their lairs in underwater caves and coral reefs.
Lair Actions
[2] When fighting inside its lair, an dragon turtle can use lair actions. On initiative count 20 (losing initiative ties), the dragon takes a lair action to cause one of the following effects; the dragon can’t use the same effect two rounds in a row:
- Blasting Current.
- Entangling Kelp.
- Steam Eruption.
Regional Effects
[2] The region surrounding a legendary dragon turtle's lair is altered by the dragon's magic, creating one or more of the following effects:
- Diverting Currents.
- Elemental Portals.
- Hot Water.
If the dragon dies, these effects fade over the course of 1d10 days.
