Topaz Dragon Overview [1] [2]

[1] Decay and despair are bound up in the nature of topaz dragons, thanks to the necrotic energy of the Negative Plane that suffuses them. …The dragons' demeanor is typically morbid and curmudgeonly as a result. …Their scales [are] translucent and faceted… ranging from bright yellow to rich amber in color. Topaz dragons prize informaiton on destruction and creation… They are fascinated by magic that creates objects from nothing, animates Undead, destroys matter, or manipulates negative energy. And they are particularly intrigued by Undead, sometimes keeping them in their hoards as curios.

Topaz Dragons are described in Fizban's Treasury of Dragons

Topaz Dragon's Lair

If the dragon dies, [these effects fade] over 1d10 days.

Topaz dragons were erratic, antisocial gem dragons who were often selfish and disinterested in things that did not affect them. They preferred to live by beaches, and enjoyed the feeling the sea wind against their faceted, yellow-orange scales.
