Cult of the Dragon [1] [2] (Organization)

Alias: Dragon Cult
Type: Cult
Setting: Forgotten Realms
Affiliations: Tiamat
Primary Locations: Faerûn

[1] Founded in Faerûn, the Cult of the Dragon was based on a mistranslated prophecy that “dead dragons shall rule the world entire.” For most of its history, the cult has focused on creating dracoliches to fulfill this prophecy…

In recent years, Tiamat has worked through a young member of the Cult of the Dragon, Severin, to alter the cult’s foundational beliefs. [Correcting the] translation: “…naught will be left save shattered thrones, with no rulers but the dead. Dragons shall rule the world entire …” …Severin [works] to bring about the ascendance to power of living dragons, even attempting to bring an avatar of Tiamat into the world…

The Cult of the Dragon has been sharply divided. Some of its members pursue Severin’s new vision…[while] others still support the prophecy’s old interpretation…

Adventure Hooks

The Tyranny of Dragons adventure details the cult’s efforts to bring Tiamat’s avatar into the world. Beyond that plot, it also offers suggestions for how adventurers might encounter this sinister cult.
