Unofficial Description: Wizards access magic through study and formulas (unlike Sorcerers that innately magical or Warlocks that borrow power from a power patron).
Becoming a Rogue
As a Level 1 Character
- Gain all the traits in the Core Wizard Traits table.
- Gain the Wizard's level 1 features, which are listed in the Wizard Features table.
As a Multiclass Character
- Gain the following traits from the Core Warlock Traits table: Hit Point Die and training with Light armor.
- Gain the Wizard’s level 1 features, which are listed in the Wizard Features table. See the multiclassing rules in chapter 2 to determine your available spell slots.

Spellcasting
1st level [1][2]
Unofficial Summary: You gain the ability to cast spells (see rules on Spellcasting).
- Cantrips. You learn and can cast a number of Cantrips (see Wizard Features table). At the end of a Long Rest you can exchange one Wizard cantrip for another.
- Spellbook. You have written your (level 1+) spells in a spellbook from which you prepare spells after a Long Rest. Only you or someone casting Identify can read it.
- Spell Slots. The Wizards Features table shows the number of spell slots and level of them you have after completing a Long Rest. You must use these spell slots to cast spells of level 1+. Each Long Rest, these spell slots renew.
- Prepared Spells of Level 1+. After a long rest you can read your spellbook to prepare a number of spells (see Wizard Features table). You can use a spell slot of the spell's level or higher to cast one of these prepared spells.
- Spellcasting Ability. Intelligence is your spellcasting ability.
- Spellcasting Focus. You can use an Arcane Focus or your spellbook as a Spellcasting Focus.
Ritual Adept

Arcane Recovery

Signature Spells
