Lore

Summary: [1] Auril the Frostmaiden is a neutral evil lesser god of winter, cold and cruel. She loves beauty, using ice to preserve it. She allied herself with other storm deities Talas, Umberlee, and Malar. Umberlee turned the others against Auril; Auril escaped to Icewind Dale. She used her magic to cast spells to keep the sun from rising. This expenditure has left her weak and vulnerable.

Auril's worshipers say their prayers cautiously, afraid to disturb her and draw her cold attention.

Auril's Three Forms

Summary: [1] In her weakened state, Auril assumes 3 forms. To be destroyed, each form must be destroyed in turn. But even so, as long as she has worshipers, she will be reborn on winter solstice. If less than all her forms are destroyed, she regains all forms after a Long Rest.

First Form

Her first form is a bipedal monstrosity covered in fur, with a black talons and a horned snowy owl's head. In this form she is known as the Cold Crone.

Second Form

Her second form appears as a female giant made of ice, with blades and spikes of ice sprouting from it. In this form she is called Lady Icekiss or the Brittle Maiden.

Third Form

Her third form is that of a flying meter sized diamond made of ice. In this form she is know as Winter's Womb or the Queen of Frozen Tears.
