Lore

Summary: [2] Merrow are vicious hunters. Merrow are larger than Merfolk (like Ogres to humans), one of their preferred targets. They often abduct victims to eat later. Vicious aquatic hunters, merrow combine the features of ogres with those of primeval, predatory fish. They lurk in coastal waters, hoping to snare unsuspecting prey by bursting from the water and grabbing their quarry or by skewering victims with deadly harpoons. These hunters then drag land dwellers back to dismal undersea lairs. Merrow often keep prisoners in their larders as future meals.

Unofficial Description: As ogres are to humans, merrow are to merfolk. Merrow appear as large, ugly, merfolk. They have bluish skin and scales. They have barbels surrounding their mouth.

Lorwyn-Shadowmoor

Summary: [3] In Lorwyn-Shadowmoor, they are much more diplomatic than in other settings. Haughty and proud, but ever polite. They prey on land-dwelling species, negotiating the use of sea lanes and the ocean's resources in exchange for items land-users can provide. Most Merrow in Lorwyn-Shadowmoor use the Merrow Common stat block.

These cousins of the ogre have the aquatic subtype. Adult merrow stand 9 to 10 feet tall and weigh 600 to 650 pounds. Their skin color ranges from dull yellow to dull brown. Their clothing consists of poorly cured furs and hides, which add to their naturally repellent odor.

Merrow speak Giant, and those specimens who boast Intelligence scores of at least 10 also speak Common.
