Evasion. Template:SRD52trait If the creature is subjected to an effect that allows it to make a Dexterity saving throw to take only half damage, the creature instead takes no damage if it succeeds on the save and only half damage if it fails. It can’t use this trait if it has the Incapacitated condition.

Lifesense. The tritail can sense the life-force of living creatures and plants. Treat this as Truesight except when viewing Constructs, Undead, and necromancy spell effects (which are always treated as if in dim light.

Swarm. Template:SRD52trait The swarm can occupy another creature’s space and vice versa, and the swarm can move through any opening large enough for a Tiny creature. The swarm can’t regain Hit Points or gain Temporary Hit Points.

Actions

Multiattack. The swarm can make 1 Beak and Claws against each creature in its reach and a number of Magic Missiles equal to it's current charge.

Beak and Claws. Melee Attack Roll: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft. Hit: 1 (1d4-4, min. 1) Slashing damage.

Magic Missile (Charge 3d6 (2d6 if below half Hit Points)). Casts Magic Missile using Wisdom as the spellcasting ability without using spell components. (a number of missiles equal to its current charge, 120 feet range, auto-hit, 3 (1d4+1) Force damage each missile.)

Lore

The tritail (\ ˈtrī-tāl \) is a humming-bird size fey bird. It appears as a tiny yellow swallow with a tri-forked tail. When they swarm, it is to protect their territory against a perceived threat.

Their main diet is insects and seeds, keeping their magic missile ability for protection. However, they will sometimes hunt giant insects or small animals that might prove a threat to their territory.

Their most dangerous attack is their innate ability to cast Magic Missile. Somewhat dangerous from a single tritail, but a swarm of them using this ability can be devastating.
