Template:Tsrwotc With powers derived from a supernatural bloodline, Warlocks invoke magic by using just the power of their will. Through these invocations Warlocks perform supernatural feats and create blasts of eldritch energy to destroy their opponents. While these powers are the legacy of an ancestor's pact with fey or extra-planar forces, the Warlock is free to follow his or her own path to glory or infamy.

[1] Introduced in Complete Arcane, Warlocks introduced the concept of Invocation as a class ability component. Their most memorable class feature is the eldritch blast, an invocation they obtain at first level that does more damage with increased level. Many invocations modified the eldritch blast, either changing the shape or adding an effect.

[2] One of the original base classes featured in the Player's Handbook 4e, a Warlock is a Striker that curses its opponents, causing them to take additional damage from its attacks. Depending upon its pact, a Warlock receives a boon whenever it reduced an opponent to 0 hit points.

[3] A warlock is defined by a pact with an otherworldly being. Sometimes the relationship between warlock and patron is like that of a cleric and a deity,...A warlock might lead a cult dedicated to a demon prince, an archdevil, or an utterly alien entity,...More often, though,...is similar to that between a master and an apprentice. The warlock learns and grow s in power, at the cost of occasional services perform ed on the patron’s behalf.

[4]Warlocks quest for knowledge that lies hidden in the fabric of the multiverse. They often begin...by delving into tomes of forbidden lore, ...meant to attract the power of extraplanar beings, or seeking places of power where the influence of these beings can be felt. ...Each Warlock is drawn into a binding pact with a powerful patron....angels, archfey, demons, devils, hags, and alien entities of the Far Realm...

Warlocks view their patrons as resources, as means to the end... Some Warlocks respect, revere, or even love their patrons; some serve their patrons grudgingly; and some seek to undermine their patrons even as they wield the power their patrons have given them.
