Academy of Devastation is a arcane tradition of the Wizard class.

Academy of Devastation

This is an unofficial description of the Academy of Devastation described in the Hobgoblin Iron Shadow article (Volo's Guide to Monsters p.161).

The academy of devastation is a militant style of magic that focuses on results, rather than theory.
Academy of Devastation Features

Bonus Proficiencies and Limitations

2nd level Academy of Devastation feature.
You gain proficiency in simple weapons. Wizards of this tradition may use their weapon as a spellcasting focus.

This tradition focuses on results rather than theory. As a result wizards of this tradition always have disadvantage when making an Arcana checks

Arcane Advantage

2nd level Academy of Devastation feature.
Once per turn, you may add an extra 2d6 damage when you hit with a spell that damages a creature if you have an ally within 5 feet of the target creature. [1]

Army Arcana

6th level Academy of Devastation feature.
When you cast a spell that causes damage or forces creatures to make a saving throw, you may select any number of creatures to ignore the spell. [1]

Evocation Focus

10th level Academy of Devastation feature.
If not using your Arcane Advantage trait, you may add your proficiency bonus to the damage done by an evocation spell that causes damage.

Extra Attack

14th level Academy of Devastation feature.
When you take the Attack action you may make one weapon attack and one spell attack (with a cast time of 1 action).
