Unofficial Description: Bards utilize performace (spoken word, song, musical instruments, and/or dance) to perform magic. They are also trained in a vast array of skills.
Becoming a Bard
As a Level 1 Character
- Gain all the traits in the Core Bard Traits table.
- Gain the Bard’s level 1 features, which are listed in the Bard Features table.
As a Multiclass Bard
- Gain the following traits from the Core Bard Traits table: Hit Point Die, proficiency in one skill of your choice, proficiency with one Musical Instrument of your choice, and training with Light Armor.
- Gain the Bard’s level 1 features, which are listed in the Bard Features table. See the Multiclassing rules to determine available Spell Slots.

Bardic Inspiration
1st, 5th, 10th, and 15th level [1][2]
Unofficial Summary: You can use a Bonus Action to give another Creature a Bardic Inspiration die (see Bard Features table), which lasts an hour. If that creature fails a D20 Test it can expend the die, rolling it and adding the result to the test and possibly succeeding. The Bardit Inspiration die type increases at 5th, 10th and 15th levels.
Spellcasting

Unofficial Description: You can cast spells from the Bard Spell list (see Bard Features table for Cantrips, number of spells known, and Spell Slots). Charisma is the bard's Spellcasting Ability. Bards can use a Musical Instrument as a Spellcasting Focus.
Expertise
2nd, 9th levels [1][2]
Unofficial Description: You gain Expertise in two Skills, and two more at 9th level.
Jack of All Trades
2nd level [1][2]
Unofficial Description: You add Half your Proficiency Bonus to any Skill Check with which you do not have Proficiency.

Countercharm

Magical Secrets

Superior Inspiration
