Unofficial Summary: Syrgaul Tammeraut was a fearsome pirate and Sorcerer. He and his crew terrorized the waves, dedicating their kills to Orcus. When he attacked Firewatch Island, a priest of Procan called out for divine help, which sunk the Tammeraut. As the Tammeraut sunk, Syrgaul called out to Orcus, who "gifted" him and his crew with undeath, turning them into Drowned Ones.

At Orcus instruction, they created the "Pit of Hatred, a rift to the Abyss that can transform corpses into drowned ones."[2]

Syrgaul is trapped in the Pit of Hatred, but send out other drowned ones to spread Orcus's influence.

Undead Fortitude. [5] If damage reduces the drowned one to 0 hit points, it must make a Constitution saving throw with a DC of 5 + the damage taken, unless the damage is radiant or from a critical hit. On a success. the drowned ascetic drops to 1 hit point instead.
