Features

Elemental Nature. The stalker does not need to eat, breathe, or sleep. It does not need to rest, except to recover hit points.

Stonemerge. The stalker can merge with earth or stone. It may move up to 50 ft. and reemerge (treat this as teleportation

In addition, the stalker may choose to remain merged with the earth/stone at the end of this movement. While merged it may not be seen or targeted by attacks. It may, and often will, use the ready action to reemerge and make an attack when a target or opponent comes within range.

Faultless Tracker. The stalker is given a quarry by its summoner. The stalker knows the direction and distance to its quarry as long as the two of them are on the same plane of existence. The stalker also knows the location of its summoner.

Deafened by Thunder. If the stalker is damaged by thunder damage, it must succeed in a DC 12 Constitution save or be deafened from it. While deafened, it cannot use its Tremorsense. It may make a save at the end of each of its turns to remove this condition.

Actions

Multiattack. The stalker makes two claw attacks.

Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 11 (2d6+4) bludgeoning or slashing damage (stalker's choice).

Ecology

Stone stalkers are cunning predators on the Elemental Plane of Earth. While relatively intelligent, they have not developed culture. They have no language, but understand Terran and Common. They live primarily solitary lives, but will sometimes form a small, temporary pack or group for mutual defense or to take down stronger prey. Summoned stalkers never form a group, wanting only to end their geas and return to their own plane.

They are more intelligent and more dangerous than the more common Sand Slip. But unlike the slip, they must be summoned to reach the Material Plane.

Relentless

Once summoned, they stalker will track its prey until either it or its target are destroyed. While not overly intelligent, it is cunning and will set ambushes or retreat when prudent. It is patient and will utilize rests to restore hit points.

Appearance

On the Material Plane, it looks like a jumble of stones in a quadruped shape similar to a large wolf or bear. It has no mouth or visible eyes. It can extend long obsidian claws from its feet and arms or keep them withdrawn. It very seldom rests above ground, but when it does it appears as nothing more than a group of boulders and stones.
